WeldCore® - eNtsa research packaged for prospective clients

eNtsa is engaging with Eskom to discuss the commercial roll-out of the award winning, friction hydro pillar processing (FHPP)  technology, WeldCore®. This is to ensure that the model chosen to roll out this technology is not only relevant but attractive for prospective clients. The meeting held on the 26 August addressed the need to strategically align and unpack the way forward to successfully implement this phase.

“The patented technology developed by eNtsa in conjunction with Eskom for coring and repairing the sample site on thick walled steam pipes has reached a level of maturity which effectively allows the technology to enter the first phase of roll out into industry” says eNtsa’s Senior Project Engineer, Mr Donnie Erasmus who is responsible for the WeldCore® portfolio and excited about the new chapter of this technology.

The study that was initiated in 2004, by the Eskom group, has developed over the years to a realistic innovative engineering solution. The commercialisation of the technology is currently an active eNtsa project which aims to package WeldCore® and related technologies for large scale infrastructure within the power generation- and related industries. As one of the strategic partners of the research and efforts that contributed to the technology’s success, Eskom is positioned as one of the launch clients for the commercialisation of the technology.

The WeldCore® project has also contributed to academic efforts within the NMMU as research conducted has produced numerous academic publications which include: Masters- and Doctorate dissertations, journal outputs and papers presented at both national and international conferences.

eNtsa’s mission includes the delivery of innovative engineering solutions and services and facilitating knowledge and skills development.  This inspiring project is a reflection of teamwork and excellence which effectively positions eNtsa, NMMU and Eskom as vehicles contributing to a sustainable future.
